Back to Pittsburgh tomorrow

Ellie has been home a little more than 48 hours. She’s doing so well with her feeding tube and equipment. She refills it herself and takes care of everything. At night, she’s had some issues so Mike and I have been up helping her the past two nights at 2 AM. Very reminiscent of having a newborn.

Tomorrow morning , Ellie and I head back to Pittsburgh. We’ll be going to UPMC Presbyterian where Ellie will get a fluoroscopy done. Here’s an explanation of what that is.

It could take up to 4 hours!!

While we are in Pittsburgh, we are going to meet our new friends Brooke and Tracy! I met Tracy on a Facebook group for patients with stomach compression issues. They are from Texas, but traveled to Pennsylvania for Brooke to  see Dr. Cruz, and subsequently got surgery. THAT is how good this doctor is. Brooke is 16, so very close in age to Ellie. The girls have been communicating and Ellie said it’s the first time she’s spoken to someone and they completely understood how she’s feeling. She finally feels heard and seen. We are praying for answers as we travel to Pittsburgh tomorrow and Tuesday.

The support we have gotten has been overwhelming. Well wishes  and gifts from people in all aspects of my life. Coworkers, people I went to high school with (McDowell class of 1997 is so good!), college friends, church friends, family, etc. We are so very blessed. Thank you to everyone for not giving up on my girl!!

I do have one more request. Can you say a prayer tonight and in the morning for my friend Kristy’s daughter, Katera? She’s having surgery tomorrow to remove a brain tumor. She’s Ellie’s age and in high school and loves her sport of cheerleading. Pray for complete healing for her and pray she gets back to cheer soon.
