Another feeding tube replacement

Today was the last day of school before Christmas break. We got out early and I was able to go to lunch with my classroom aides. It was such a nice lunch  and we laughed the entire time.

In the meantime, my mom took Ellie to the ER to try and get her tube unclogged.  That was at 1 PM. As soon as I was done with lunch, I went down so my mom could go home. I am so very thankful for my mom who has been such a blessing to us. She does so much to help with my kids.  We ended up being there until almost 9. We waited all that time just for them to tell us they’ll schedule her for a replacement on Monday. We asked several people if a replacement through the ER was possible and they all said yes. Plus her doctor advised  she come here. Even so, we are thankful to be able to get it done locally and not have to go to Pittsburgh.

I can tell Ellie is feeling down. She has this tube that’s been more of a problem than a help. She’s in constant pain. She often calls herself “defective “ I continue to pray for healing for her.

Ellie had her first appointment with a rheumatologist today. The dr gave her some ideas on how to manage her pain and symptoms of her Ehlers Danlos. This causes Ellie a lot of joint pain, fatigue, and probably responsible for her digestive issues. Her options for pain medication are very limited since she only has one kidney. Ellie told me the doctor was very helpful and kind. That’s a win because those doctors have been few and far between.

On our way home from the ER, we listened to Christmas music and looked at Christmas lights. Ellie is very excited that we have our Christmas with my parents today. I will cherish the fact that I have time off of work to be with my husband and kids, even if some of it is spent at the hospital. Please pray for a successful tube replacement for Ellie on Monday
